What Kudu Initiative has already done
Flagship Project · Delivered
The Queen's College Tartan Track.
One of only three Olympic-grade Tartan tracks in South Africa, delivered at a cost of about R15 million. It is the home of Eastern Cape athletics and the stage on which Queen's College has won the Hirsch Shield 28 times in 30 years and finished fifth in South Africa at the 2025 SuperSport championships.
The track no longer costs the school a rand to run. It is now self-sustaining through partnerships with athletics organisations around the country, whose events, coaching programmes and training partnerships keep it busy and keep it earning. A Kudu Initiative deliverable that pays its own way: that is the model for everything that follows.

National recognition
The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation partnership.
Queen's College is an official placement school of the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, achieved through a Kudu Initiative project. The Foundation runs the largest high school scholarship programme of its kind in the world for talented, deserving students, and it is the strictest in the country: it vets the capacity of the school, the academics of the school, and the school's ability to teach children well in terms of becoming both a global citizen and a change maker in South Africa.
Each Scholar receives full funding, tuition, boarding, an allowance, uniforms, stationery, textbooks and extramurals, and the selection runs for roughly eleven months, ending with the placement school itself interviewing and approving every candidate. Queen's College is one of only 33 partner schools in the country trusted with that duty, and the school is recognised by the Foundation as an Institution of Excellence for scholarship recipients.
Selection
72,000+ applicants for 600+ Scholarships
Since inception, chosen through the Foundation's exam, interviews and psychometric assessment.
The standard
The school approves every Scholar
No scholarship is awarded until the placement school has interviewed the candidate and signed the agreement.
The outcome
Change makers for South Africa
The Foundation exists to equip young South Africans with an entrepreneurial mindset. Queen's College forms that character.

Months to validate the model
The Kudu model is simple and compliant: a corporate partner allocates B-BBEE-aligned, tax-deductible funds to the Queen's College Trust; the Trust awards bursaries and funds development for previously disadvantaged learners; the partner receives B-BBEE verification points and documented impact. The model was validated in twelve months, with significant traction in the last six.
